Whitesboro Texas Tax Abatement Policy Ordinance 947 Tax Abatement

Enterprise zones are economically distressed geographic area(s) that have been targeted for business development that will create jobs, stimulate further economic revitalization, and reduce distress.  The office of the Governor Economic Development and Tourism administers the Texas Enterprise Zone Program.  This includes adoption of program rules, coordination of local and state efforts, providing community assistance, evaluating zone and project applications, and monitoring and reporting to the State Legislature on program effectiveness.  The State of Texas provides direct development incentives for a limited number of qualified businesses and enterprise zone projects in order to support economic development in the most distressed areas of the state.  The major financial incentive offered through this program is a refund of state sales and use taxes on qualifying expenses.  Local communities must nominate a company as an Enterprise Project to be eligible to participate in the Enterprise Zone Program.  Legislation limits allocations to the State.
