Outdoor Warning Sirens

The Outdoor warning sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm.   If the weather is such that a citizen might mistake the testing as a warning, then the test will be canceled.

SIRENS WILL BE ACTIVATED FOR:

  • Tornado or funnel cloud reported by a reliable source such as a trained storm spotter
  • Sustained winds in excess of 70 mph
  • Reports of hail 1 ½” diameter or larger
  • Chemical spill emergency requiring shelter in place by residents
  • Discretion of the Office of Emergency Management

*Important: Siren activation for wind and hail criteria will be made on a case by case basis in consultation with the National Weather Service. Also, remember that outdoor warning sirens are meant to be audible outside only.
